Details of the Crime

On Saturday, September 3, 2011 shortly after midnight, Washington Township Police initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Buchanan Trail East and Monterey Lane, Blue Ridge Summit, PA. Police attempted to stop a green Chevrolet pick up truck bearing a Pennsylvania Registration plate. The vehicle initially did not stop and a short pursuit occurred traveling northbound on Monterey Lane, ending when the vehicle pulled to the side of the roadway near the Monterey Country Club. Almost immediately after the vehicle stopped, the driver fled on foot. Three other passengers remained inside the vehicle. After a short foot chase, the driver identified as Robert Glacken of Gettysburg, PA was apprehended in the southbound lane of Monterey Lane.

While police were dealing with Glacken, one of the passengers, a male identified as Donald Ray Andrews of Dover, PA, got into the driverís seat and drove the vehicle northbound on Monterey Lane in the southbound lane of travel directly at both the police and Robert Glacken. The police gave verbal and visual orders to the driver of the truck to stop, but the vehicle continued in the wrong lane of travel and continued to travel toward the officer and Glacken. The officer fired three shots from his service weapon in order to stop the truck/driver from driving into the officer and Glacken. The vehicle swerved and continued traveling north on Monterey Lane and out of the area.

The vehicle was recovered at an apartment building in Dover, PA by officers of the Northern York Regional Police Department.

At this time an active warrant exists for the arrest of Donald Ray Andrews for Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Simple Assault. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Donald Ray Andrews is asked to contact their local police department.
